brent(inWorship): The Devil’s In The Details

  • TheNorEaster · 1 year ago
I don't, uh...Well, ya see...And so the door was kind of...

Aw, Heck...THAT IS SOMETHING I WOULD DO!!!

Ok...That there is funny, but as Nor said not beyond something I would do.

Recently it has been, just forgetting where I put stuff or walking out of the house without something. At least I haven't forgotten the kids... 8-)

Ahhh.... i would see a different saying applying here..

Always check the SIMPLE stuff FIRST!

and if you want to go all 'proverbial'...

Look after the 'pennies' and the 'pounds' (dollar$) will look after themselves.

To me 'The Devil is in the DETAIL' has a slightly different meaning...

God supposedly gave to man a number of laws and ordinances in Leviticus and Deuteronomy (and Exodus also) in addition to the Ten commandments...

The Devil is well able to use these many convoluted detailed commandments to enable evil to be done in the attempt by man to live up to them and force others to uphold them.

Christ did away with all of the 'detail' (and the Devil contained therein) and Left us with a single simple commandment that is less able to be misconstrued... Love God body mind heart and soul and love your neighbour as yourselves.

    Simple!

I have learned that I need people around me to help with the details.

Funny story, but a really great illustration.

I think the details - the things I'm missing in life - have to do with how busy I keep myself and how that affects my relationship with my wife and children.

I don't know what I'm missing in my life because, well, I'm missing them.

Noreaster, I am in goo company :)

ckroboth, do you know what I hate is forgetting little, simple words...or names. drives me nuts.

Love, I completely agree with your take on that phrase. Good stuff!

Vince, I do as well. It is the everyday life stuff that I don't think I could away with hiring an assistant for :)

Brad, yes. We get focused on the big picture and lose sight of the important things, don't we.

    Bad, Hahahaha!!!!
  • HW · 1 year ago
Yup... something I would definitely do. Although it is super hilarious to think about you crawling in through the back in public only to find the simplest explanation is the right one. :)

    Too funny!
  • inworship · 1 year ago
    Ummm, yah, hilarious :)

Nice! I've walked around the house before searching high and low for my keys, only to find I had them in my hand along with my sunglasses, purse etc. The more distracted you are, the more you miss the little things.

I tell myself this all of the time. I am an event planner so every detail must be examined before executing a great event. It's exhausting when you overlook something that seems so small (but to a CEO it's a big deal). URG! thanks for sharing this pretty funny story though.

Carolyn, Haha! The techie in you comes out :)
  • gchyayles · 1 year ago
awwwwww but see God allowed that to happen so you could write this post about how the devil tends to get on our last nerve and make the simplest things in our lives, complicated, so there was a purpose in all of it!

Okay now that I've said that:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Love you B!

  • randy · 1 year ago
That kinda cracks me up. I could just imagine your frustration when realizing the simple fact of the door being locked.

One reason I've started to step back and think when something doesn't work. Because usually somewhere in the situation there is a lock, and all you have to do is flip the switch.
  • inworship · 1 year ago
Rand, normally I would go crazy, but this time I actually laughed at myself. I couldn't wait to tell tam what I had done. Ridiculous.

But your right, steeping back is key. Makes things run a lot smoother.

great analogy. and in the same vein, you can look back on it now and laugh. i hope i'm able to do the same with the devilish details in my own life.
